Give me an egg cream, please

You know what we don't have in Coconut Grove? Egg creams. We used to have them at one or two places, but we don't anymore. Remember Chicago's, which was on Commodore Plaza in 2009? They made great egg creams. I used to love their Italian Beef Sandwich, too.

I don't think anyone is ordering the Grapevine drink at The Bookstore, which is a chocolate shake with grape jelly in it. It's actually good. No really. I asked a few of the staff members behind the cafe counter if they had egg creams and they didn't know what they were.

But an egg cream is more refreshing. All they need is soda water, Ubet chocolate syrup and milk. That's it. Frankly, I am shocked that Starbucks doesn't have this on their menu.

I am suggesting that the Grapevine drink at The Bookstore change to an egg cream, or just leave the Grapevine as the shake and add egg creams to the menu. It should be about $3.50 for a tall glass.

What do you think? I would get one daily, I think.

This may seem like an innocent request, but its really at the heart at what has destroyed the Grove. "The Grove would be perfect if only it had...." has been the heart of what has destroyed the Grove over the years. The Grove was already perfect, or close to it, until people came along and decided what makes it better.
