'Artsy Happy Hour' to be held at Woman's Club

The Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove will host their third art related event this year on Thursday, September 12. This is all part of their effort to maintain their legacy alive of being a cultural hub in the community. The club was founded in 1891 and since its very beginning, their founders were strong supporters of the Arts and Education.

Every March, for the past 18 years, the club has sponsored a scholarship program for young artists from public high schools in Dade county. The Young Artists’ Gallery program (YAG) culminates with a community event which consists of a juried art show, scholarship awards ceremony and the exhibition of student work.

In May, this year, the club hosted a group exhibit featuring artists that have been longtime members of the club.

Now the club is ready for their “Artsy Happy Hour” in which they have invited two artists to create a live-painting, exhibit their work and interact with the guests. The artworks will be for sale to the public.

Artist Luis Berros will create one his popular style paintings live during the event. He will also exhibit several of his latest paintings. Italian Photographer, Franco Campesato, an old-school film photographer who develops his own negatives and prints in his darkroom, will exhibit his captivating photographs.

The event is from 5:30 to 8 pm.

The Woman's Club is at 2985 South Bayshore Drive
