Fete de la Musique joins FAM Night
As usual, musicians will be spread throughout Coconut Grove, but with Fete de la Musique involved, there will be so many more live musical performances, practically in every little nook and cranny of the village. As you stroll from one gallery to another, you'll come upon all sorts of musical talent, all free, all throughout the Center Grove.
Traditionally, Fete de la Musique is on June 21, which is the summer solstice, but this year, it's a couple of weeks earlier (the Fete, not the actual solstice).
“This is our third season and it’s wonderful that live music on the streets is now being held on a monthly basis with the Grove Fashion, Art Music Night so we decided to combine our event with the FAM,” said Brigitte Kishlar, founder of the Miami Conservatory of Music which is producing the event with the Coconut Grove BID.
“The Fete is a celebration of all the musical styles we have locally and is an exciting experience for music lovers of all ages and cultures," she went on.
Musical acts include Three Sheets to the Wind, Wynwood Walls, Nathan Taylor, The Earthshine Duo, Sunshine Stompers and Orange Flight, a musical collaboration of soul, hip-hop, indie, and funk, will be playing at Barracuda Bar & Grill.
New FAM participants include Detlev Aveda Salon, who will be showcasing their newly remodeled salon with an exclusive trunk show featuring the fashion designs of Milda Bublys and jewelry by MioPuma. Milda Bublys is a local designer and internationally known for her collection of one-of-a-kind clothing and turbans, created using repurposed and vintage fabrications. Fashion artist and designer Miozotis Pumarol is the purveyor of an Artisan Jewelry Collection featuring a subtle, airy and exotic collection of earrings, bracelets and necklaces.
CocoWalk’s newest boutique, Bindi, will offer $15 off every $100 visitors spend as well as wine and chocolate upon the arrival to the new shop. On Main Highway, Vinos will offer 10% off wines and beers by the glass and bottles for the event!
Returning FAM participant, Coconut Grove Art Gallery presents the closing reception of “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words," a one-man photography retrospective of the J. Arturo Fridman M.D., whose unique personal vision will inspire attendees with stunning photographs all framed personally by the artist. Nearby on Florida Avenue, TK’s at the Villa Mayfair specially extended their happy hour menu until 10:00 pm.
Other participants include CocoWalk, Boswell Mourot Fine Art, The Bookstore in the Grove, FrameWorks, Design Bar, Goldie, Bindi, The Habit: Art!, BVogish, Isabel Riera, Allie and Chica.
And of course the Grove's own Drum Circle will meet as usual on the corner of Commodore Plaza and Grand Avenue. Join them, there are always extra drums and seats and hula hoops.
This is the last FAM Night of the season, it will return Saturday, October 4.
Admission is free and open to the public. There is plenty of parking on the streets and in garages and surface lots.
