Fishing for Boating Safety Tournament

The Monica Burguera Foundation (MBF) is holding their 5th annual Fishing for Boating Safety Tournament on Saturday, June 21.

Besides a day of fishing and family fun, guests will support The Monica Burguera Foundation, a great local cause that works hard to educate the community of water-lovers on how to stay safe while navigating the water.

The agenda:

· 2:30 pm – Lines Out/Weigh station opens at Shake-A-Leg Miami
· 4:30 pm – Weigh station closes
· 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Family Fun
· 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm – Awards Ceremony & Cocktails

Registration per boat is $400, extra anglers on boat $50.00

Registration fee includes: Captains Reception, Boat goodie bag, Tournament t-shirt, Day of fun for your family and friends, Post Tournament Cocktail Party, Award Ceremony and Supporting Boating Safety.

Individuals who don’t want to fish but want to support and attend may do so by donating $30.00 for adults and $20.00 for chidren.

The foundation was created in memory of Monica Burguera, a 20-year-old Florida International University student who died in a tragic boating accident during the 2006 Columbus Day Regatta.

MBF, committed to saving lives, in conjunction with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, offers free boating safety classes as a public service for the local community. Since September 2010, more than 2,000 students have successfully completed the program and been awarded the USCG Auxiliary Certificate of Accomplishment and a Florida Boating Safety Identification card, which is required to operate a boat for people born on or after January 1, 1988.
