It's really a fun night of culture with lots to do

art1
Last night, was another successful Coconut Grove Gallery Walk. People came out and galleries sold art. It gets better all the time. It's really turned into a fun event.

From the Mayfair Atrium, down to the Promenade and up Grand Avenue, to Main Highway and down to Commodore Plaza, all the galleries are open and have new exhibits, with music and refreshments. Our masthead above is a scene from last month's Gallery Walk. That's the Sunshine Stompers in front of the AC Fine Art Gallery engaging the public as they pass by.

It's not Saturday night in Coconut Grove without our friends, the Hare Krishnas walking around, blessing everyone and laying flowers upon them. They have their drums and of course so do we at the Coconut Grove Drum Circle, which is always a part of the Gallery Walk. We got a lot of cool Drum Circle photos which we'll share during the week.

Friends were out and that is probably the best part of the Gallery Walk, you get to see all the Grovites out and about. During the week I'll post photos from each of the galleries so you can see what was going on and see which exhibits are up for the month. If you missed last night, you can always go out and see the art any day of the week. Above are Joseph Grant, Leonard King and Yassu Tasari..

Each first Saturday is when the Coconut Grove Gallery Walks are held. They really are special and a great night to get out and see what's new in town.

The restaurants all benefit, too. They are full with happy art lovers who stop in to get a bite to eat between gallery hopping.

One of my favorite things on Gallery Walk night is seeing Danny Yucra, he's a student at Coral Reef High, who performs on the street during Gallery Walks. He's raising money to go to Julliard. We wrote about him once before. His talent stops people in their tracks and he always has a large crowd around him. It looks like he's playing in the New York subway here, but it's right outside CocoWalk on Grand Avenue.

Come back all week, we'll share what was going on all over town during the Gallery Walk night.
