10 fun things to do in Coconut Grove

1) Bike ride: The Grove is small and green with a beautiful waterfront, just made for bicycling. Rent a Citibike and enjoy. The BID offers free historic Grove tours by bike, twice a month.

2) Coconut Grove has one of the highest concentrations of one-of-a-kind, Mom & Pop restaurants. All with excellent food. Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at a one of our local establishments. 

3) Bar hop, we have elegant bars, sports bars, hotel bars and dive bars. Something for everyone, stop in and meet the locals, have a drink or two.

4) Visit The Barnacle, one of the oldest houses in Dade County and probably the only old house still standing on it's original site. It's a State Park now and the view and feel today is the same as it's been for 125 years. The Barnacle offers movie nights, Mad Hatter Arts Festival, Cars & Cigars, Shakespeare in the Park and so much more.

5) Speaking of history, check out the Woman's Club of Coconut Grove. It's over 100 years old (started as the Housekeepers Club in 1891), the current building is almost 100 years old. Next door you'll find the historic Coconut Grove library.

6) We have plenty of parks in Coconut Grove - along South Bayshore Drive you'll find Kennedy Park, sailing clubs, Regatta Park, Myers Park and Peacock Park, to name a few, all along Biscayne Bay.

7) Village streets: walk in the village and discover stores and shops that are only here in Coconut Grove, meet the locals as you wander around.

8) Miami City Hall is right here in Coconut Grove. It's the historic Pan Am terminal, early flights used to take off and land in the bay out back, the City Hall Commission Chambers is the old hall where you would buy tickets and wait for your flights. It's all been restored. Stop by.

9) Before it's gone, check out Grove Bay restaurant, next door to City Hall. It's like Coconut Grove used to be. Cheap beer and food on the waterfront. The former Scotty's Landing.

10) If you're around at the end of the year, you must enjoy our King Mango Strut Parade - a parody parade, over 30 years old, which makes fun of things that have happened locally and national throughout the year. Always a town favorite on the last weekend of the year, this year it falls on a Saturday, December 31). The whole town comes out for this one. They even parodied us, the Coconut Grove Grapevine as the Coconut Grove Gripevine one year. She's dressed up as grapes, below. And at the beginning of the year, every President's Day Weekend, we have the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, where art, music and food take over our winter streets.

And there is so much more to see, from the over-100-year old Plymouth Church to the Vizcaya Mansion.
