It was a fun, musical FAM night on Saturday for the usual first Saturday shenanigans. Students at the Arts & Minds School had a lot going on, they not only displayed and sold art, but they created art right out on the street. As the temperatures cooled down, it was a perfect night to stroll the village and enjoy the events.
The students performed live, playing amazing jazz as part of the event.
They were out playing on the plaza, right on Commodore.

I thought this was Jesse from Breaking Bad, but it's Bob Burya on the cello with Jess (not Jesse) Nolan, from the Frost School of Music, out on Main Highway.

There was a food truck selling burgers, hot dogS, arepas and other stuff all at the parking lot on Grand Avenue and Fuller Street. A perfect place for food trucks, let's have more, please!

Very few people came out.i think its time for plan B
ReplyDeleteOne thing the BID is doing well, problem with the lack of crowds is due to construction and obstruction everywhere in and around the Grove, the new traffic designs is making the Grove into a moated village.
ReplyDeleteI dont agree.the problem is its a one time event.nothing special about it.for the grove to ever be fun and family it needs to gp back to the way it was.with big clubs and big name eateries.till then its a bust that keeps getting worse while the rest of miami progresses
ReplyDeleteMost of our entire Miamian urban populace seemed to be freaked out becuase of the implacable, freezing "coooooold" here in Miami, last night and today.. too bad for the Art night, not much to do with parking, etc. at all..
ReplyDeleteIt was relatively deserted too even for joggers, runners and cyclists, today, of all people, Grove, K. Biscayne, South Miami, everywhere, when it was the absolute puuuuuuurrrfect night and day to be outside, anywhere, even against these incredibly harsh natural elements and laughable bit of wind.. Gorgeous weather we now have down here,,, time to enjoy it, let's repack all those fancy heavy winter garments for some other city!
The night after Halloween made it tuff to go out again & Miami stays home when it starts to get cold. Nonetheless, I was out, but still managed to miss half the entertainers due to walking by on their breaks, their early quitting times & just giving up on seeing something of interest. I won't say what I saw & didn't, but I was less than entertained. The previous F.A.M. I went to was much more engaging. What I saw this time is not a draw or a reason to return.
