Vittorio Storaro opening at Arts Festival Gallery

Saturday night, was the soft opening for the Vittorio Storaro, "Writing with Light;  The Civilta Romana Collection," exhibit. The main opening will be at FAM Night next month, December 6. Above are Tony Rodriguez, Jr. from Prestige Realty Group, Amy Wood and Tony Rodriguez, Sr. 

At left is Alan Alberani, the curator of the exhibit, with the Academy Award winning Vittorio Storaro's son, whose work is on display at the Arts Festival Gallery.

I enjoyed meeting Vittorio, a three time Academy Award winner for his  cinematography and Alan's knowledge of all the art and movie scenes in the images was great. 

Vittorio earned Oscars for Best Cinematographer in Apocalypse Now (1979), Reds(1981) and the Last Emperor (1987). He received a fourth Academy Award nomination for Dick Tracy (1990) and served as cinematographer for such other notable films as Last Tango in Paris, Tucker: The Man and His Dream, Ishtar and Bulworth. Many scenes from these movies were used in the double-exposure exhibit. The exhibit is all about Vittorio mashing two images together to make a piece of artwork - long before there was Photoshop.

The display is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm, the gallery is at the Mayfair Atrium at Grand Avenue and Mary Street.
