Elegant, refined murals are a new part of the Grove

That's Xenz and his fellow artist James Brazil, two artists working on a new mural at the dry cleaners building at Grand Avenue and Matilda Street. It's part of a new BID project. James tells me that it will be interactive with moving and programmable lights at night. The project is almost complete. The painting was done with spray paint, by the way.

The guys are design architects who have a collaborative studio and workshop. Check out Xenz on Instagram here and James on Instagram here.

I'm told the next project is a sculpture which will appear somewhere in the Grove, the location has not been chosen yet and also other buildings will get murals, the Grove Ink building across the street is on the list.

The art is subtle and fits in with the surrounding foliage. People have been stopping and staring and admiring and taking photos.

"This project is pulling on lots of skills and ideas. They are all merging like a beautiful exotic salad," said Xenz, shown here. Technology will combine with tradition once the images are digitally animated.
When the project is complete, probably around Monday at sunset, March 18, people will be able activate sensors by touching elements in the mural and make it come alive.
