World Cup Festival is this weekend
I stopped by Regatta Park early this morning. The sailboats are sleeping. But they will be up and ready for Saturday and Sunday's Medal Races from 11 am to 4 pm which will be streamed live to a Jumbotron as part of the World Cup Series Sailing Festival, which will also include food trucks and the US Sailing Education Zone. The public is welcome and there's no charge to attend the festival.

Tragically, people from all over the world will have to look at our horrific concrete "park benches", and even worse, try sitting on them for a minute. And when they venture to Kennedy or Peacock parks, desperately looking for real park benches to enjoy, they'll find both our delightful Bayside boardwalks still shut down. Bummer! Seems that City Hall needs more funds to fix them, or perhaps all of Florida's construction cranes have been busy in Center Grove, for months now. Will they replace the lovely wooden park boardwalks with concrete ones sometime in 2019, when a crane or 2 become available?
Impressive and beautiful to see these sailboats returning to Regatta Park after a day of competition, especially today in 20+knot winds. We don't love the imposition to our parks, parking, and markets, but welcome sailors. Enjoy our lovely Coconut Grove...all back to normal on Monday (after the Miami Marathon!) until the Art Show. 'Tis the season, relax all.
