The Coconut Grove boat graveyard

Hurricane Irma passed through three months ago and the boat graveyard is still at Seminole Boat Ramp. Millions of dollars worth of boats sunk to the bottom of the bay and here they are, sitting, waiting to be removed. It's a kind of tourist destination spot at this point.

So Miami, to just let things lye around forever and ever and to not take care of problems. I couldn’t be happier to have left for good.

The intent was not to make this look as if the city was ignoring the issue. They have been working on this massive project daily, for months. They have had to dig out these vessels from muck and grit below the water and it's been a non-stop job. They are not ignoring the issue. They aren't letting this lie around forever. People are working there daily.

Eric, lye is an alkaline solution. The FWC, i.e., Fish & Wildlife Commission, noted there were several thousand vessels damaged, sunk, or abandoned and the vast number of owners responded rapidly with proper paperwork to get these boats ashore so as not to harm our environment - - - - sorry Eric, but this wasn't a CITY of MIAMI operation. Florida law made this a STATE issue, which was handled expedicually. A job well done. Jobie Steppe

I live across the street and have seen people working every day including Sundays. It is not easy to deal with this and there are hundreds if not thousands of boats that still need to be taken out of the water all up and down both coasts. To Eric Foyer, good that you left if you don't like it here.

Couldn’t agree more with you Anonymous! I also live accross the Street (Yacht Harbour Condo) and it is true that they are working everyday at the site.
Plus, if you don’t like Miami, it is a good thing not to have you around anymore Eric!

I've been wondering if these were all due to Irma or were some of these boats that had sunk and are now being taken out?
