Re-dressing up the booths
Six years ago, Grove artist Eileen Seitz dressed up the black information booths around the village by painting them in that flowery way that she has. It was the fall of 2010 when she started her project, you can see some of that here and here.
What I loved about it at the time was that as Eileen painted, she visited with passers by, friends, tourists, everyone. It was a nice community thing and it changed those ugly black boxes into something beautiful. It must be a nice feeling to see your work in the center of town every time you drive or walk by.
Well, Eileen is at it again. She is touching up the paint, starting with the booth in front of CocoWalk, the direct sun has faded some of it and it will be brought back to its brilliance by the original artist, which is really a great thing. She sanded it down earlier in the week and it was washed down Wednesday and now it's ready for new paint.
Stop by, say hello, learn about Eileen's process.Photos courtesy Eileen Seitz
