Commodore Plaza renovations

I had to laugh when I saw this on Commodore Plaza. As you know they're doing the street work there, remaking the sidewalks and such.

This is in front of Strada, the Italian restaurant. They're blocking them and it was funny because people complain all the time about Strada taking up so many parking spaces daily to use for their valet parking service. Now they don't have any parking spaces until after the work is done.

I try to think of both sides to the valet story. There is lots of parking on either end of the block, if you consider the post office lot on nights and weekends and of course the Playhouse lot, but I think of older people, I picture my parents and I do think they would prefer to valet park right in front of the restaurant rather than have to walk from either end of the block to dine there. It probably helps all the restaurants in the area to have valet parking, even if it looks as if Strada is hogging up all the spaces.

As for the renovations, it's been slow this summer around the Grove, so it's perfect timing to redo the streets.

Unfortunately, a lot of the nicely and recently paved streets (such as Gifford and Matilda) look great but have the same large puddle/flooding problems they had before. On Matilda, the street accumulates lots of water on the street exactly in front of the cafeteria morning drop-off area in front of Coconut Grove Elementary.

Your bond money being wasted on pet projects and you will have to pay back the bond in new taxes down the road.

Same flooding goes for many of the swales on Shipping Ave., not to mention the street work they did pushed enough concrete debris into the rain drains to clog them up. Now my neighbors and I have to spend time following up ever other day with the city to try to get resolved. Who's pet projects are these? and don't say they're Certainly not Sarnoff's, because he is a saint!

Pet project? I guess you would rather see money ear marked for the Grove go toward repainting roosters in Little Havana?

Maybe someone should ask the owner of Strada or Lokal if they would rather no improvements to the sidewalk.

I can't wait to see what someone of the chronic Sarnoff complainers do when someone from outside the Grove takes over his seat.

Oh please, what would you do then? Oh wait! You'll complain about the new commissioner!

"my street has pot holes!"

"there are too many cracks in the sidewalk!"

"the Grove hasn't been the same since 19...18...a long time ago!"

You chronics are ridiculous.
