Fete de la Musique joins FAM night
The popular Fete will have musicians located throughout Coconut Grove as it usually does, they'll be on sidewalks, in courtyards, inside restaurants and clubs and the public can stroll about and listen for free. It's a cool concept where you just wander the village and stumble upon incredible live performances. Guide maps will be available at restaurants and will be handed out by red beret topped guides on the streets. A variety of musical styles from jazz and blues, to rock, Latin, African and pop music reflective of musical culture in South Florida will be offered. More than 450 cities worldwide host similar Fete celebrations that began in Paris in 1982 to promote live music and peace.
Fete de la Musique Coconut Grove has moved it’s date this year from the traditional summer solstice on June 21, 2014 to the first Saturday of the month when the FAM is held. It should be a big night combinging live music and art.
“This is our third season and it’s wonderful that live music on the streets is now being held on a monthly basis with the Grove Fashion, Art Music night so we decided to combine our event with the FAM,” said Brigitte Kishlar, founder of the Miami Conservatory of Music which is producing the event with the BID. “The Fete is a celebration of all the musical styles we have locally and is an exciting experience for music lovers of all ages and cultures," said Brigitte.
Fete de la Musique Coconut Grove is open to the public and is free.

NOT a good idea! Fete de la Musique is a happening that's SUPPOSED to occur on the Summer Solstice...JUNE 21.
"The Fête de la Musique, also known as The worldwide celebration of music, is an annual music festival taking place on June 21 in cities around the world. It was created by the French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang."
Whatever is happening on June 7 is NOT Fete de La Musique.
Why wouldn't you want to have TWO nights of something great happening in the Grove? FAM on 6/7 an Fete de la Musique on 6/21. Good Grief! Leave it to US to screw up something else.
