Big night of live music all over the Grove
Cuban Pete and the Hialeah Hooligans had the crowds dancing. The Grove's Miami Conservatory of Music produced the event, which is held all over the world on the Summer Solstice, June 21. The good news is that we may see the Fete de Musique more often than just the Solstice, hopefully once month.
So many people enjoyed the simple vibe of live music, it makes sense to have it all over the Grove on a regular basis. The Kuyayky Children’s Orchestra played Peruvian Folk msuic at CocoWalk.
Old and young came out to enjoy the beautiful evening, the first day of Summer.
Glenn Allen and his group played Acoustic Folk.
Old Joe of course is always up for any type of great music.
The Rodiles had the crowd singing and dancing all night with their rock music, right in the center of town.

For all the effort and money put into this event it was really slow yeah a few extra families then normal but overall slow.why are the rodiles not signed to a major record deal yet?
Anon at 9:31 must not have been out that night, because it was the busiest early night I've seen the grove in years. I came out at 7:00, and there was already no parking in most of the lots. The streets were full of people, and so were the bars and restaurants. I don't know how late it lasted, because I didn't make it past midnight. But, usually, on a Friday, there's no crowd until 10:30, and then still not much.
Didn't Bobby Ingram try to create something several years ago where live musicians would be on several major corners every weekend but the BID red-taped it to death?
First guy was right it wasnt all that
To those posting negative comments you guys are crazy! This event was GREAT for the Grove! My family and I went out and spent money on several local businesses, listened to awesome music, and chatted with other locals. How is this type of event not something regular? I would rather do this every Friday right here in the Grove then have to get in the car and drive to Brickell or South Miami for nights out.
We were at Menchie's and the 20-something girl behind the counter was telling another customer that she hadn't ever seen the Grove so packed, ever! I had to chuckle a little because the Grove used to be insane every single weekend starting from Thursday happy hours and raging thru Sunday evening strolls!
Friday nights in the Grove used to be the best and when no-one under 30 can remember a night like last Friday it's not good...that's saying something.
P.S. I'm not the only one who felt this way as several families I spoke to later on in the weekend agreed that it was an excellent event and the overwhelming family presence was palpable!
I was so psyched to go to this. Scheduled a sitter, grouped a bunch of friends together, plotted out the bands we'd hit up. We had drinks before heading out and were psyched to hit our little hood with no kids. Yay!? Not quite. Our first stop was to hit the Brazilian dynamo duo Rose Max & Romantis...we got to Lulu and there they were. But all the tables were full, there was a 2 hour wait for an outdoor table to hear the music, we couldn't stand there without blocking customers at a table or the walkway. Lame. So we put our names on the list and decided to walk around. They texted us after the band stopped playing. The other bands were ok... but we really wanted to see Rose max. We went to Jaguar's and the band was so low key it was just background music. Wish they could rotate the bands to different venues so we could have heard the brazilian group do their thing in a place with more viewing room. Where's the drop box for comments for these planners? Our group had a ton to make it better. We want a real fete!!
