Lots of fun and new things happening

I was at the BID marketing meeting all morning and it was a lot of fun. It was all upbeat and there are a lot of exciting things coming up in the next few months for our little village. The meeting was held in the back room of The Grove Spot because the BID office is currently being renovated, and it's a good thing too, because the extra space was needed. There were lots of people and lots of new faces presenting their projects.

Not all, but I venture to say almost all of the presentations are going to happen. There were folks there from both the Miami International Film Festival and the Miami Short Film Festival who have plans for their events here in Coconut Grove.

The Gran Fondo bicycle event is back this November and so is the Pumpkin Patch, in October. There are quite a few changes for the better regarding the Pumpkin Patch, I'll write about that later this week.

Of course you know about the Grovetoberfest Beer Festival and the Coconut Grove Seafood Festival, back to back days in October and of course the Great Grove Bed Race in November now.

Nutrifest the Reggae Festival is coming, I wrote about that already, they are thinking that 5000 people may attend.

One exciting thing, probably starting on October 3, is a weekly Thursday Farmer's Market to take place in the Coconut Grove Playhouse Parking lot, free parking is part of that! I'll get into that too, later in the week.

There are lots more events coming up that I'll report on, but it seems to be an exciting time for the Grove. I know many people complain about not having enough to do here, well, here you have some pretty large events. Most of these events will bring thousands of people in.

I was pleased to see my friends at Markham Unlimited, the branding agency right here on Mary Street, received the approval to do the job of branding the Grove. Markham Cronin and his employees are a very big part of Coconut Grove, you can see them out and about daily, they are true Grovites and I'm  sure they will do an excellent job because they love the Grove. They won the job out of 14 firms who responded to the RFP
