Commentary on BP oil crisis

Artist Paul Smith's work, "Global Transiente" premiered during Art Basel in the Grove night on Monday, it's at the new Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery at the Mayfair Atrium until the end of the month.

The eerie work is a self image of Paul drowning in a barrel of oil. Real oil surrounds the head which looks so real, you swear the eyes are going to start following you around the gallery. It is one of the favorite pieces in the show.

Stop by tonight, Saturday night, for Coconut Grove Gallery Walk. All the Grove galleries are open from 7 to 10 with food, wine, music and lots of art. See what the crowds all saw on Monday night's Art Basel spectacular. The large John Angee sculptures are up in the Mayfair Atrium and so is the large mural painted by Andrea Sampaolo.
