Would a Sunday morning Straw Market work?
This is a good idea, Miami being the number one cruise ship port and all.
The straw market might work, although the cruise passengers most likely came from the islands and visited straw markets there, so maybe something more Miami-like would work, since many cruise ship passengers don't really get to see Miami. Many fly in, take a cruise and fly out, so their Coconut Grove stop on Sunday morning could be their only taste of the Miami area other than the airport and the seaport.
Maybe a straw market type thing up and down Grand Avenue could work but with more local things. We could still have straw hats and bags and things, but also t-shirts and jewelry and maybe more generic type things, if not Miami-based things, like film, drinks, books, art, etc. Maybe an artist or two could be painting and selling art. I'm just thinking out loud, but you get the idea. Let's engage the tourists and give them something to do on Sunday mornings. It could be a mix between the Art Stroll in the Promenade and the Green Market.
