More bed racers sign up at Get Rolling Gathering
The young law students from UM clashed with the Great Grove Bed Race last night at the Sandbar Grill, where the Bed Race held it's Get Rolling Gathering. They clashed in a good way, in fact very good, because some of the law students said they would sign up for a bed and race one in September 5th's Great Grove Bed Race.
Ironically, the UM track team (shown here) who won the race for the Sandbar last year was poached by another bar this year, so the young lawyers may be all they have now. They seemed to be able to drink up a storm last night, hopefully come bed race day they can run up a storm like their athletic brothers from UM. While a lot of the electricity went out around the Center Grove last night, the lights stayed on at the Sandbar, which we took to be a very good and lucky sign.
The next event leading up to the actual Great Grove Bed Race on September 5 is the free Test 'n Tune on Friday, August 27, where the actual beds can race on the 1/8 mile track at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Will the wheels fall off? How hard is the sprint? Only one way to find out, that's next Friday at the racetrack. We'll give all the details on this upcoming event next week.
