One month from now, on September 5, The Great Grove Bed Race takes over the streets of Coconut Grove! Are you ready? Have you signed up for a bed yet?

The Bed Race Committee has been working feverishly to make race day even bigger and better. This year, Virginia Street will also be closed and it will become a Family Pajama Party with music, games and fun for everyone.

At the post office lot will be a Sleep Village, with all sorts of booths and vendors set up with sleep, and racing-related items. The Homestead-Miami Speedway plans on having a show car on hand and there may be an antique fire engine. There will be music throughout the Grove, too and lots of specials at bars and restaurants.

The big question is, "Who is this year's Grand Marshall?" Last year, three-time Indy winner Helio Castoneves was the Grand Marshall. He was also one of the celebrity judges and he rode out on the first bed, which promptly fell apart, right on the track.

If you would still like to race a bed, there are still some openings, which will go fast as race day draws near. There are different categories this year: Male, Female, Co-ed and Corporate, choose one and sign up here, at the Great Grove Bed Race website: www.thegreatgrovebedrace.com.

It's a fun day which raises a lot of money for charity (UM Sleep Center and Alonzo Mourning Charities) and it's a great Grove signature event which draws thousands of spectators. It's all free, so come out, grab a spot along the track and enjoy!
