Bird Avenue Beautification meeting tonight

There is a meeting tonight at The Bookstore (3399 Virginia Street) to discuss the Bird Avenue Beautification project. This is the time to come out and review the plans before the City gets to work on the project. There were concerns at the last meeting, so now is your moment to speak up and give your opinions.

The meeting is at 6 pm.

Why Bird? I think a 27th Ave beautification would benefit more - mostly because its the main road from the metro station into the grove. Make it more pedestrian friendly to encourage people to take public transportation to the grove - i.e. clean up the area around the gas station where the bus stop is at (smells like the bums that hang out there and scare people away), put in sidewalks all the way down to Bayshore, most importantly: a pedestrian walk way from the metro so folks don't have to risk their lives crossing US1 for the full two seconds the "walk" light is on.

Anon 1:03 - Juristiction - 27th Ave is a County Rd so they are responsible to put an inprovement plan together. Bird Ave. is a City Street....There is/was a plan for 27th, on hold due to lack of $$$

Only if and when 27th Ave is "beautified" and we see the improvements or detriments of such, will I support Bird Ave's facelift. Not needed, not now. Figure out a way to keep businesses in the Grove, not congest the residential streets. If Miami has a $3m hole burning in their pockets, they can find much better uses for it than putting trees and a median on Bird. Oy, the traffic, the mess.
