Loose Cannons race is Thursday

I was called a "Loose Cannon" recently (because I speak the truth) so I am partial to the Loose Cannons on the Run bike group that takes over the streets en mass on a regular basis.

They are starting at the SoFlo Skate Shop at 3301 Grand Avenue on Thursday night, October 1 at 10 pm (get there a little earlier), and they will race to The News Lounge at 55th St and NE 4th Ct.
THe winner gets a $50 bar tab and beers are just $2 for all cyclists.

And check out SoFlo Skate Shop's new blog here:

You are an independent person with his own opinions and the right to express them, and you provide a forum for us Grovites to have great conversations about things that we care about. If that makes you a "loose cannon," fire away!

Sounds like fun, but after a $50 bar tab, plus $2 beers, how do they get back?

Drunk bike driving. Watch out for potholes! Now that's scary!

You need a double-suspension, cheap mountain Bike for those night rides, a good insurance policy, solid helmet.. Some folks get crazy, although not as wild as certain Critical Mass stampedes.. Sadly, Cocoanut Grove's streets are a veritable mine field. Can't take good road bikes out at night, even with Danny's fair repair prices at Revolution Bikes. Carlos Iglesia

This race makes Critical Mass like a walk in the park, and if you even wanna come close to winning you gotta at least average 22mph on the whole ride... Good luck on a mountain bike LOL... Julio Iglesias

Carlos I,
I know these guys from SoFlo and they ride "messenger bikes" one gear and are young people in shape. They do not stop for anything, most do not even have brakes! They fly!!! they don't need spandex and a $2,000 bike to go have fun and ride hard! Quit talking Sh** and Show up with your fancy bike and neon spadix! Then you will know what a real biker is. I will be there i know you won't.
