Hangin' with Burn Notice

burn-8-13-09a
So yesterday, I'm standing on Grand Avenue, talking on the phone and who walks by? Jeffrey Donovan and Bruce Campbell, the two stars of "Burn Notice." They had been filming all day right down the block at Mayfair. I had almost gone over a few times, but I know they don't like me taking photos and stalking, so I never went over. The season is winding down, August 28 is to be their last day of shooting for awhile. I am invited on to the set all the time, but I never seem to have the time to run over.

But here they were walking up Grand Avenue after the day's shoot. I followed them and took a bunch of photos of their backs and thought that I should get some "real" shots and I caught up with them and snapped away as I talked to them as they walked.

burn-8-13-09b
I told them I was from the Grapevine and asked if I could take a few photos. We talked about the Expo Center and how glad all the fans were that they were given permission to stay for another season or two. Jeffrey did most of the talking. They then stopped and I took photos, but then I said, "You can keep walking, I'll just take the photos as you walk." I didn't want to hold them up.

Bruce Campbell didn't like that, you can see him here saying, "No, we don't want you following us, we are through for the day and we're leaving." He went on to say, "We'll stand here and you can take all the photos you want." I only intended to take a few photos and not follow them around town. I really just do it for the fans who request it, I know many from the USA Network fan boards love when I post things. Many email me on a regular basis about the show and ask for photos.

Jeffrey Donovan was in a very good mood. He laughed through the whole thing and you can actually see him calming Bruce Campbell down when he realized I was just taking a few pictures for the Grapevine and I wasn't a rabid fan. In the photo below, you can see Bruce is resigned to the fact that the Grapevine is gonna get their shot, which actually helps promote the show to thousands of people who will see this.

They must have thought you were really creepy.

Creepy? I asked if I could get a photo for the Coconut Grove Grapevine, one of the entities that helped them remain in Coconut Grove and not high tail it to Louisiana.

You sound like the creepy one.

Bruce might just be a little more jaded because of his decades of experience having zombie movie fanboys constantly pestering for autographs...it comes with the territory though.

Thanks for the great photos! The whole BN crew and Jeffrey were very nice to me when I went down to the Grove and watched filming last week.

I think Bruce has his Chuck Finley glasses on... maybe Chuck was on a mission and didn't want you interrupting.
But I cannot lie. I would've followed them too :) Nice pics!

The person who thinks it is creepy is just jealous. They are in front of Cocowalk on in the center of the grove midday it seems. I am sure you weren't the only one taking pictures. Good going Grape love the pictures.

I'd like to think of the Grove as a place where anyone can come, hang out regardless of their fame or fortune, or lack thereof, and just be part of things and have a good time. I'd like to see the cast of our local tv show comfortable hanging out having a beer in a local restaurant after they shoot. They're just people like you and me. Let's welcome them as our neighbors, not stalk them asking for autographs.

OMG people. Enough! I wasn't stalking them, they were walking down Grand Avenue. They know the Grapevine, I help promote the show every chance I can. Robert Parente and producers invite me to the set all the time. I never go. I approached them in a polite manner and asked to take their photos, I only said I would follow them because I didn't want to hold them up. I meant to follow them a couple of feet to take a few photos after they SAID YES! I didn't intend to follow them to their cars or their house.

ENOUGH! I thought this post would be something nice to share. I didn't know it was going to turn into an evil thing.

I'm glad you did take the photos. I don't think it is creepy. I have actually heard before that Bruce Campbell charges for autographs so his reaction doesn't surprise me. Thanks for the great shots.

They should be nice to you. If I remember right, you were the only publication to not publicize or show mugshots of Jeff's DUI incident last month. Rather see these happy faces anyway.

Burn Notice is great - we love it and we love the revenue and publicity it brings to Coconut Grove and Miami. Let's keep it going as long as we can. Be sure to watch their shows and reruns or record them. Remember this is their home while they are filming here; many of the stars rent homes in the Grove during filming. Sharon Gless lives in Miami.

It's good to have these folks in the Grove and we are lucky, in my opinion, to have the environment that attracts this type of business activity into our community. The Grape has every right to take some pictures and they have every right to become a little upset-----just good normal human nature.

Michelle, you never cease to amaze us. Honestly, whose side are you on? In one instance a while back you said you liked, REALLY liked Regalado, and then in another comment on another day, you were making fun of his accent. You make nice to Sarnoff and then you have been heard calling him Sarnazi. Now you are bashing Grape. Unbelievable. I suppose your true colors are emerging for all to see.

Way back in the 50s and 60s, lots of people came to the Grove because they could walk around and act like normal people without being photographed or asked for autographs. Sure, most everyone knew that the guy at the next table was famous, or the person behind you in the grocery queue was a star, but it was the "code" of the Grove not to approach or make any notice. The Grove was a haven, and that was certainly a part of what made it what it is today.

Well, I have to agree that Michelle has gone round the bend. At least she keeps posting, so we all can watch her torpedo.

Every once in a while (increasingly rarely), however, she has a point.

In all fairness to Grape, I was actually on the phone with him when he happened on the actors. He was not stalking them. And he asked for permission and explained who he was just like he said.

Boy... 29 comments and not a single mention of Sarnoff, Sanchez and Regalado!

Congratulations on the Scoop, Grape.

Burn Notice is the best publicity Miami and Coconut Grove could hope for. The show is seen worldwide. I hope they continue to get renewed and I hope they get to stay in the Expo Center.

To set the record straight, SV, whoever you are, I have NEVER called Marc "Sarnazi," nor would I ever call him that. That's a really despicable suggestion. I do like Tomas Regalado on a personal level, but don't believe someone whose vision is through the rear view mirror is the best leader for Miami.

To set the record straight, Ms. Niemeyer and now we know who you are... I personally heard you call Marc Sarnoff, Sarnazi. This was not second hand. And yes, it is despicable, very sad and very true.

The exact same point I made a few weeks ago in a similar attack on Michelle -- At least Michelle puts her name behind her words or accusations, whether or not she said what you are claiming she said. You all need to come out from behind the cloak of anonymity. Any coward can say any range of things when they aren't going to be held responsible for those words.

Apparently, SV is a lying sack of S**T! Or deaf. Or possibly delusional.

I don't deny calling Marc "the boy in the lycra bike shorts." I have never called him "Sarnazi."
