I've heard of playing possum . . .
But is this possum playing cat?
This poster is all over the North Grove, my friend pulled it off a telephone pole today. Is someone gonna tell the guy that this isn't a cat? I blocked the phone number to protect the clueless. But I can't stop laughing at this.
It's probably fake, but it is all over the North Grove on telephone poles.

I thought that too, but a real phone number is on the bottom.
Classic! This made my day!
Call the number, I'm guessin you're chain is being pulled there buddy.
One born every minute.
Real or not... it is damn funny!
OMG, this is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!
grape - we are about to witness something here that has been debated and discussed, and irrationally requested, in countless ivory towers of advertising across the land - viral marketing.
your page views are about to go through the roof.
nicely done.
Yes, your post is far-reaching - I'm in Seattle (but a native Miamian) & just tweeted it too!
Wonder if they used thick gloves to determine the sex of the "cat"? Guess it was OW.not MEOW....
Do the possoms and the peacocks play well together?
This IS really funny...Unfortunately it shows how removed from natural biodiversity we have become. Hope the possum is allowed to return to his tree soon.

it's fake... they don't even look a like, and here's one of the pics taken from a website: http://www.eatmyyard.com/index.php?blog=2&m=200808
Always some jerk that has to spoil it for everyone. Thanks Anonymous 6:02 pm
agreed, thanks anon 6:02. jeez. talk about a buzz kill.
This reminds me of a story my dad told us once. Someone he worked with in St. Paul came back from a business trip to Boston, during which he had walked through the Public Garden. He told me dad he'd seen this funny looking squirrel with no hair on its tail. My dad had to tell him it was a rat.
Ah yes, the possum/cat poster. It was a 900 phone # scam in Australia:

and eventually made it to the States.
I learned who did this from my daughter, last night. Trust me, it's a joke.
Good one, Don!
I don't know if it's the same person, but there have been other posters like this throughout the years. I seem to remember a bird one of some sort, and I think this opossum one has been done before....either way, it's funny as hell.
Has to be a Joke....who would be so stupid?
However I really hope this person does not have to poor possum locked in a cage.
This poor creature belong in the wild not in a cage. This would be animal cruelty which is NOT funny.
I was sitting outside in my backyard with a few of my friends the other night... we were kind of in a circle with chairs, and out of nowhere, a possum fell out of a tree and landed in the middle of us with a mango about the size of his body. He looked as shocked as we (and my two dogs) did and sprinted to safety.
we have one living near our Townhouses that we have seen several times in the evenings. It ususally stays on top of the wall. Several people don't like the looks of it but I think its great. If neighbors agree to leave their fence lines vegetated with trees etc then these guys can have cooridors and habitats. Opossums are one of the least likely of "urban" critters to carry rabies and are generally shy and secretive. Seeing one is exciting.

Did we know that: Possums are marsupials. They carry their young around in a tummy pouch just like their better looking cousins from Down Under. Kinda puts them in a different light... People kill them because they're fierce-looking, but are actually the complete opposite. They have very poor eyesight and can't see beyond their noses - imagine!
When I lived in South Grove yonks ago, I had opossums come in through the cat door. One came every night for some cat food. The cats respectfully stood back and let her do as she wanted. She would leave if I approached, but I could watch her from the other room. They have jaws that snap like traps, skeery. But they're not aggressive at all.
The other day my dog was playing with one that I actually removed from his mouth, and to my surprise I learned that they play dead when they feel danger.
It was so funny cause the minute I put him on the floor (thinking it was dead ) he runned away.
ran is past tense for run.
