We need more St. Patrick's Day spirit around here

stpat2
The Grove failed the St. Patrick's spirit test today. I went all over the Central Grove looking for corned beef and cabbage and came up empty handed.

Even Eleven Leprechauns plans that for tonight, but for lunch -- nothing. I checked all restaurants up and down Commodore Plaza and found this one group of friends (above) drinking it up at Mr. Moe's and I ran into the Eleven Leprechauns staff getting ready for their bash tonight (below).

I know the Loggerhead (Flanagan's) on Bird, was the place to be for lunch, I should have gone there. But I guess I'll go out later and check out the festivities that are planned for the night time Grove, including Avalon's big thing.

I went to Eleven Leprechauns last night - around 6:00pm - hoping to get some Irish food before the crowds. Even managed to get a table while only waiting 10 minutes... but to my dismay when I got the menu - absolutely NOTHING to do with Irish Food. Sure, they TRIED to make it sound Irish but it almost seemed to me like the same menu the ENGLISH place had before it left... We ordered a burger and a corned beef "Sarah" sandwich - the only thing with corned beef in it. NO cabbage, and NO plain boiled potatoes - only those spicy potato wedges. I am not saying it wasn't tasty - it was just not what we wanted on this holiday. I ended up eating corned beef and cabbage+potatoes later at the place formerly known as Hooligans on US1 south of Dadeland (not bad). Too place that place was kind of dead... seems most people aren't aware that it has reopened since Hooligans went under.

Flannigan's was a great spot last night... great decorations and lots of spirited patrons (though a few of the bartenders coulda used a little spunk). The corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, n carrots were as good as me irish ma' used to make.
