St. Patrick's Day in the Grove

Eleven Leprechauns (3120 Commodore Plaza) is celebrating St. Patrick's Day in a big way tomorrow. The celebration begins at 5 pm with beads, four-leaf colvers, leprechauns, pots of gold and giveaways.

There will be live music by The Cat Daddies and Suenalo. Traditional Irish food like corned beef and cabbage and cocktails are all available. Enjoy Baby Guinness and Green pitchers of beer for $9.00. Other drinks include their own Bloody Leprechanun.

For info: 305-443-0422.

And of course, the usual Grove St. Patrick's Day hangout is the Loggerhead (Flanagan's) on Bird Avenue. They have their yearly greening of the Grove going on.

Of course most of the Grove restaurants and bars will be serving up specials on green beer and corned beef and cabbage, too. CocoWalk has some special deals going on, too.

Sounds cool and am glad to see the local establishments enjoy some holiday success, but I cringe every time I see those ridiculous plastic beads. I can't understand how they've made it from the gutters of Bourbon St. on Ash Wednesday to virtually every booze-company sponsored holiday celebration - everywhere. Insidious creatures, they are.
What a horrible waste and loss of holiday tradition.

Oh well, with enough green beer I guess I'll not care so much.
