Let the Gifford Lane Art Stroll be a reminder to all Grovites and our city leaders that this is the essence and spirit of Coconut Grove.
It was not a massive art fair with, tens of thousands of people mostly browsing.
It was not a fenced in street that felt like cattle being driven to a slaughter house.
It was not hyped up with sponsors, ads, noise and congestion.
Our Art Stroll is just a simple little Grove celebration of art and our neighborhood and we love it that way.
This is what makes us unique and desirable.
Changing our zoning to build more unnecessary out of scale condos is not what we are about.
Building a too tall and too large structure near our waterfront docks is not what we are about.
Harassing businesses for meaningless infractions is not what we are about.
Persecuting artists for displaying their work or even selling it from their front yard is not what w are about.
Giving parking tickets and towing cars is not what we are about.
Coconut Grove is our village that loves art, our artist, friendly neighbors, tree lined streets, low traffic, kids, dogs, bikes, comfortable cloths and shoes, silly hats, t-shirts with messages, savory hamburgers, Hebrew National all beef hotdogs and especially delicious and refreshing cucumber punch.
Lets celebrate our village and especially our talented (and even not so talented) artists (including musicians).
Lets show our appreciation and figure out ways not to persecute those that may be a little more exocentric or not all that cooperative with the authorities.
Artists of all kinds add so mush to the flavor and spirit of our Coconut Grove.
Lets encourage those here to stay and flourish and lets entice even more to move here.
Artists and art have always been the heart and soul of Coconut Grove.
The wonderful Gifford Lane Art Stroll celebrates our artists and art once a year.
Many thanks to all of those Grovites that made last Sundays Gifford Lane Art Stroll possible.
Now it is up to the rest of us (Chamber, Merchants, Coconut Grove Village Council & BID) to make sure that Coconut Grove celebrates art and our artists the remaining 364 days of the year.

I had a great time... it seems like every artist got a photo but me though. :(

But it is still one of my favorite events in the grove and I was glad to be a part of it.

It was a perfect day the weather cooperated. The trees have grown since last year and made a wonderful canopy. I just loved seeing the cluster of friends gathering. One of the privileges of being their yearly is seeing the young couples and children as they grow in our community.
