Stalking their prey

The Scammers were out in full force this weekend.

This one Scammer seems to be the main one, he is the one that leads the pack of young guys.

There are older Scammers above him and I guess they are all making a nice living scamming the tourists.

Here you can see the Scammers at Scotty's Landing this weekend. A reader sent this in.

They are now stalking their prey. The police seem to let this go on even though I have shown these guys many times.

We should have a Scammer contest and everyone should send in their photos. Seems the only way to catch them is with a camera or cell phone. The law doesn't seem to catch them.

The "Law" is having a picnic instead with our Tax dollars, hiding behind trees for hours everyday hoping to catch someone running a stop sign at places like Tiger Tail. I see them almost every day. They must have ice-cold AC and great stereos on those comfortable patrol cars. Small crime doesn't get'em kudos and points for tickets.

My guess is that it may be related to budget constraints. Tickets provide revenue, while keeping the grove clear of these folks "doesn't."

It's shortsighted because these kids, the 80 cent guy, and all the other folks like them, are some of the reasons the grove has been a less desirable tourist destination. And, fewer tourists means fewer shops, and fewer tax dollars.

I know some people like to say that these folks give the grove its "character." Even if that's the case... For every ounce of "character" they bring, they take away a lot more.

Bryan, what's your point? Exactly what are you trying to say here?

Do the homeless people take character away from the beach, does bernie madoff take character away from his 7 million dollar penthouse,
does rush limbaugh take away character from the republican party?

Anon 7:30: My point is simply that when the police do not step up to ensure these folks are not a nuisance, the grove suffers.

I do not think homeless people take away from the character of the grove (or the beach for that matter). I DO think that when scammers such as these are "allowed" to go from table to table bothering folks for money while they're just trying to enjoy a night out, it DOES take character away from the area. And, I don't find this on the beach or anywhere else in South Florida for that matter. (By "allowed" I mean the police's lack of willingness to do anything about it)

Perhaps you are different but when I go out I don't want to be incessantly harassed while I'm sitting at the dinner table. If I come to the grove, I know that it is inevitable.

And, that's why I come to the grove less and less. If you don't want my kind... Fine.
