Old Grover dusts off the bobble heads

The Old Grover brought out the bobble heads again. For the rest of the Old Grover's take on the Baseball Stadium Scam, click here.

They are also saying "Yes Home Depot," "Yes Grove Harbour," "Yes non-stop massive development at Mercy Hospital," "Yes, Coconut Grove, we hate you . . ."

Heard that the meet and greet Joe Sanchez event scheduled for March 4 moved locations to the CGSC. Is that correct?

Comparing Home Depot to this stadium nightmare or even Grove Harbour makes you sound stupid. Sorry for being so blunt but the matter is simply not in the same realm. Home Depot didn't want anything from anyone. Wasn't doing new construction in the grove, and could not have harmed the grove in any way, even without the stupid restrictions they agreed to. Home Depot was doing us all a favor by filling a vacant store front and bringing a lot of decent jobs to the area. I just wish they weren't restricted, so that I could get lumber there when I needed it, and it was after 4 pm when everythign on the other side of US 1 closes.

Grove Harbour project is also completely incomparable to the Stadium. It affects only grove residents, doesn't propose to spend all our tax dollars to make rich people richer, and has zero similarity, other than the fact that some people are on the same side of 2 completely unrelated issues.

It's this kind of mixing of issues, that both hurt resistance to either and creates enemies out of allies (people that would help you fight against the stadium, may disagree with you on one of the others, and by calling them antigrove on one, you lose their support on the other.) Polarization is dangerous.

That said, I feel your point in regard to the stadium. It's baffling who gets elected here and how.

That guy,
So you completely missed that part where Home Depot wanted to build a 130,000 sq. ft. facility?

In the middle of a Plaza full of commerical stores. No, I didn't miss that, but thanks for acting like that would bring the fall of civilization.

For a point of clarity, Home Depot is not it SD2, which is apparently what the zoning board considers the grove.

You're right tho, we should have kept home depot out completely, I mean no one from the grove ever goes in there now do they.***

***=dripping sarcasm

I have never stepped into that Home Depot and I don't know of anyone who has. We shop Shell Lumber.

That. Comment. Was. AWESOME.

And That Guy is right, comparing the HD issue or the Mercy issue with the Marlins Stadium is absurd. Yes, its likely that the 3 nodding heads could be involved in pushing this ridiculous idea through but thats where the similarities end.

The Stadium is a bad idea, period.

Oh, and I shop at Home Depot.

Hey Blind Mind and That guy,
You are the two who seem intent on comparing the various issues. All the Grape actually said, had you read his post before blowing a fuse, was that the three Commissioners all voted for the items mentioned.

you can look it up - but apparently reading on the page is where your mental abilities end. It's called subtext buddy. When one connects 3 things like this, there's a reason. My only point was, don't cut your support out from under you on something you can garner support for by comparing it to another unrelated and more contentious issue.

If one were trying to garner support for a women's right to choose, it would not be wise to say it's these same idiots who are against gay marriage and any regulation of guns that want to take away women's rights. You see you may have just turned off some people that are pro choice and also pro gun, etc.

And I clearly like to break things down and stir things up. what else is this here for if not discussion?

That Guy, give it a rest. The majority of the Grove finds all three of these bobble heads to be totally against the Grove, the City and any quality of life. They have never voted for the best interest of the public. And never once listened to the voters. They listen to the money.

If you don't get it fine. But please, give it a freakin' rest.

Agreed, the only thing Joe has ever done is give out press releases out about all the things he is "doing"
I have a long time friend that has lived in Angel's district since brith and he also lives near the "gonzalez compound" which has high gates and walls. He also got mugged walking his mom into his house.
Spence-Jones....errrrr......

I just want the city to get better...I'm proud I live in the city. I just wish everyone else would think of the city as key biscayne, coral gables etc.

Imagine...$2 billion taken from Miami taxpayers so an out-of-town private business owner can make a massive profit...?

And Joe Sanchez can't give our money away fast enough...
