Where is the rest of my Fire Fee Refund?
I got my check for the settlement on the Miami Fire Fee case.
It was 25% of what it should be.
Who got the rest? The "settlement administrator?"
I would really like someone to take responsibility for this.
This image was sent in by Harry Emilio Gottlieb, he got it right on.

I got mine as well on Monday. I agree, where is the other 75%? Why wouldn't we be reimbursed for what we paid and shouldn't have?
About fire.. where are the fireworks tonight, or when can we buy them in the Grove? thanks..
No fireworks in the Grove tonight. That is the 4th of July.
You may buy them at the Boys and Girls Club on 32nd Ave. and US1.
Thanks for the info Grape. Thanks for your blog, as usual with great stuff about our Village.
I didn't notice the 25% thing... the paper has an explanation of how they are calculated though, the key item being "Net Settlement Fund" which may be what's left over after the various fees and payments were made. Did anyone contact the Settlement Admin? 1-800-981-7567
The whole system including the courts are in it to rip people off, it is a massive industrial scale scam our government has evolved to. Good luck with figuring out the balance.
Happy New Year.
If you think paying $100 mil for the illegal Fire Fee was bad wait until you start getting the bills for the $1 bil illegal stadium for the privately owned Marlins baseball team. Oh, you are paying. The City and Miami-Dade County have already paid over $6 mil for consultants and lawyers to seperate you from your money. And of course, after the taxpayers paid $30 mil to renovate the Orange Bowl you recently paid $3 mil to demolish it. Oh, and the Marlins want that site and they refuse to pay for it.
The Marlins want $1 bil and the expenses keep climbing...
Remember the ones who voted for the fire fee....and also remember who fought against it.
They are both running for city mayor.
Happy New Year though!
Elections are in two years, vote out all the scum. Get a radically fresh government or make Coconut Grove a city. You will see that our Government will look very different than the City of Miami and Dade County. Look at South Miami and South Beach. The are pretty unique and somewhat insulated from the backwardness.
city commissioners (including joe and tommy) approved a settlement half of the original projected amount in the lawsuit, and by the time the lawyers and administrators got to it, we are left with 25% - time to VOTE THEM ALL OUT...!!!
Yes but Tommy was the only one who was against the fire fee from ever happening
