Art Nasal fundraiser is Tuesday night
Like Art Basel, Art Nasal is all about money. It’s a fund-raiser for the King Mango Strut.
So far, they have raised only $5.00 this year. “We made that last week when we sold a Nasal poster”, said this year’s Strut organizer, Glenn Terry.
I ran into artist, Theresa Callouri the other day. She is the creator of the Art Nasal poster which features her with her finger up her nose. It will be on sale at the event for those so inclined.
Theresa says it's a free-for-all at Art Nasal -- she will draw anything for $2.00. She says it's a "live art happening," something like they had in the 1960s. Just show up and see what happens, anything may.
Non-artist Kathy Fleishman will be doing bad portraits for $1.00.
This year's Strut t-shirt will be unveiled, too. It is a take off of this year’s parade theme, “Do the Mangobama!” The Mangobama is a dance and for $1.00 they will teach it to you that night at the Nasal event. We showed a photo of the t-shirt design here. It's quite nice actually and sure to be a collector's item in light of the past political season.
Raffle tickets are also on sale. The big prize is a cruise on Royal Caribbean.
Again, all proceeds help pay for the Grove’s greatest event, the 27th annual King Mango Strut, which is Sunday, December 28 this year.
