The Sailing Club and their month-to-month lease

The Coconut Grove Sailing Club is 66 years old and presently only has a month-to-month lease. At last night's meeting, Waterfront Advisory Board chairman, Stuard Sorg, suggested that they want a yearly or multiple year lease.

One reason they don't have a lease is because if they had a lease, the property would have to go out for bid. It's quite an involved process involving appraisals and fair market property assessments, etc. and anyone could then come in and grab the space.

One problem with the Advisory Board is that they don't set up agendas and no one knows what is going on and what is coming up for review. It was suggested that members of the Sailing Club show up at a future meeting to discuss the lease.

The issue has been discussed, and will be in the future. Capt. Sorg has fought for the interests of the CGSC, and continues to advocate leaving the Club where it is.

We are being kept in a state of limbo, but it's not the fault of the Advisory Board.
