The never-ending project

mayfair
It looks like they may be finally putting the finishing touches on the pool area at the Mayfair House Hotel. Today they were putting flowers and plants up on the roof via crane.

The scaffolding is down along the side of the building, which gives some more life to The Bookstore, which was so much in the dark all these months.

That pool should be a place locals can hang out as well as tourists, since locals had to deal with the mess, closed streets and nonsense all these many months.

Not to mention the water dripping off the roof! And the way the valets park the cars so they intrude on the sidewalk.

Not to mention the taxi cab stands that should be somewhere other than on Virginia St. taking up valuable parking for surrounding businesses. Put them across from the Ritz that way they won't be able to congregate and block traffic.

There is an loud and awful noise coming from the roof behind the new wall by the pool to hide the large AC units. Our apartment is behind the Mayfair and it is bad. They need to stop it!

Also, thanks for all the noise and waking up everyone while celebrating the grand opening of the pool area.

Not good!!!

imagine a hundred cars with tricked out car stereos, all with their with their windows open, blasting the same bad song at top volume.
that's how loud the new pool on top of the mayfair was on friday night.
i live in grove towers and it was deafening. i can only imagine how bad it was for the folks staying at the sonesta.
stay tuned. this will be come an issue. especially once it gets cool enough for people to sleep with their windows open.
unless of course, the clubs starts playing the grateful dead.

On Sept. 18th, the Herald ran an article about rapper Jay-Z, whereby his publicist was quoted as saying that Jay-Z plans to open a rooftop club in the renovated Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove. So, if you think that you have noise now, you are in for a big surprise!

We ran the same press release the same day. And most likely Jay-Z and Beyonce will be there tonight.

I didn't see Jay-Z and Beyonce but I did see the kids from the Sopranos there on Thursday and Friday nights (Robert Iler and Jamie Lynn Sigler). I think its a pretty cool place and I hope that it lasts---beats driving to the beach if you are in the mood for that kind of place.
