The continued uglification of Tigertail Avenue
Tigertail used to be such a pretty and scenic street, but they put in the that ugly traffic calming device and plan on putting in others and now the flashing lights.
Normally I would agree that a flashing light is needed at school zones, but if you have ever tried to drive down Tigertail at school start and end times, you would see that there is no way to speed or even move around that area due to traffic congestion because parents are dropping off and picking up their spoiled brats who can't take the bus or walk (like I did through miles of snow when I was a young 'un).
So adding massive poles and lights and traffic signals to Tigertail is not needed and will only hurt the historic winding road. Ransom actually looks like a prison from the Tigertail entrance. It's pretty on the South Bayshore side.

Historic Tigertail Avenue is being swallowed up by Ransom-Everglades school. Public records show that they own SIX properties that are contiguous to the school.
They already tore down the old Barnacle style home on Tigertail to install, you guessed it, a parking lot. Funny thing is that it is zoned residential only!
While I disagreed with you on Ransom adding a sign to designate its existence, I agree with you here. That traffic calming thing is probably the dumbest thing Ive ever seen. No one even stops at it - its widely accepted as being that dumb. Now to have flashing lights and all that jazz is just plain silly. The traffic on that road has been better this year so far than past years but its still pretty crappy. I dont think you can go faster than 10mph between 5 and 6pm.
I must say that the traffic lights are not the prettiest thing to add to our beautiful and historic Tigertail, furthermore, as you pointed out it is imposible to speed on that zone in the a.m. and in the afternoon with all the kids going into Ramson and the cop directing the traffic gives preference to the cars going into Ramson. However, I have to disagree with you on letting the kids walk to school these days. I too walked to school everyday, in the cold Chicago/N.Y. & N.J. days and it was O.K. Unfortunately, in today's world it is not recommened for a child to walk to school by him/herself, let us also take into consideration that most of these kids live rather far from the school.
