Mercy condo project is dead; long live quality of life

The "Best News of the Year Award" goes to the fact that the 300 Bay Residences project at the Mercy Hospital site is dead. The uber-rich will have to make do without the overbearing out-of-character greed pit for now. Story here.

Stuart Sorg, Michelle Neimeyer, the Grove Harbour Marina and the rest of the money grubbing agenda-hiding Waterfront Advisory Board should be on the next tomb stone. Total bunch of scammers.

Anon 10:15,
Had you been paying attention instead of ranting, you might have noticed that the parties you've named have very different opinions on the issues. As it is, one must conclude that you've been talking when you should have been listening.

Thank you, Anon 10:28. Lumping me in with Stuart Sorg is quite the interesting comment, and I barely know the Grove Harbour people ... I just think having the under building space is a win for the baywalk and the public realm. If people want to continue to have an 18' baywalk there and no shade along the baywalk, fine.

On the Mercy note, let's hope we don't get what we asked for. The Related Group project was too tall, but would have had minimal traffic impact. If Mercy builds some sort of assisted living facility, or anything else that's related to its hospital use, under the current zoning laws it has a right to unrestricted height, and there's not a damned thing we can do about it.

Let's hope Miami 21 passes quickly. It would help on that front.

I would love to vote Neimeyer off the council, when is the next election?

Dear Michelle, Trees or a nice awning might help with the shade situation. Not a 21,000 sf office bldg. Thank you.

The defeat of the Mercy/Related Luxury Condo project and the illegal spot zoning of Coconut Grove is a big victory for the Grove and Miami. How sad that we have to keep going to court to get justice from our own elected leaders. It is a shame that so much effort, time, money and aggravation had to be invested to receive justice from our very own government. Commissioners Sanchez, Gonzalez and Spence-Jones should be fired or fined for voting on this illegal spot zoning. Mayor Manny Diaz should be dismissed or resign in shamed for his support of this illegal effort. Developers be advised that business as usual is no longer the norm.

Michelle, quit while you are ahead. You think the answer to shade is putting up an office building? Dumb, dumb, dumb. And don't try using scare tactics on the Mercy site. You in J. Perez's pocket too?
