Post office garage is not happening

It's final, all rumors can be put to rest: The Miami Parking Authority will not be building a parking garage at the post office lot any time soon. A recent study showed that there are 1,029 parking spaces in the area and at peak hours, only 76% are occupied.

They are leaving the option open for the future.

Thank god someone finally did a study on parking in the Grove. People always bitch about the lack of parking and I see tons of options all the time. I attempted to make a map a long time ago but my computer skills are quite weak. Hopefully this will silence the complainers. There is plenty of parking, you just have to walk a block or two.

I have a noble idea: Let's build a monument on the lot to thank the Cuban American achievements and contributions to Miami.

I have a better idea, they could plant a half-dozen big, beautiful trees.

What?

No thanks. This city already focuses way too much on Cuba. If we spent more time focusing on the US city of Miami, this place might be a lot better off. But who cares about stuff like education, taxes, crime, and politics here? No, we're more concerned about Castro while our children are the dumbest in the Nation, our people are the poorest, and gunfire and corruption mar our streets and political offices.

Plus, there is nothing Cuban about the Grove. A Cuban cafe set up shop and was out of business pretty quick and Cuban Pete's cigar shop is a joke. Nothing but old dried out cigars and empty boxes in there.

We have inconvenient parking in the Grove - who wants to park at the Oak St Parking Garage when they want to go to Commodore. The Post Office is the best site to have a parking garage. It might force the other parking garages to reduce their outrageous prices also - like Cocowalk.

How about a public park - with a fountain, and/or a pond and big trees!!!

I can dream, and never never lose hope for humanity doing the right thing - just for the sake of beauty.
