Awesome that they are doing this. I'm coming and I'm bring a...bicycle.

No really, this is cool. In ATL in 96, many of the local bars had big screens and showed opening ceremonies for those of us who didn't know the right people or work for Coke and couldn't go. It was tremendous fun and more patriotic feeling (even tho it is a Global thing) than the 4th of July. Or maybe it was city pride, but anyway, it was fun.

Miami, and Coconut Grove especially, helped along a lot of people participating in the 2008 games (and many in the past). Many sailors, American, Irish, Canadian, German, Greek, etc..., stayed in and patronized the Grove for most of the winter while qualifying their country and clinching team or individual berths on our own Biscayne Bay.

I'm thrilled to hear CocoWalk is doing this.

Actually technically they already started. I already saw the US Womens Soccer team lose their first match on Sunday. I was sad
:(. But I was wondering if any of the restaurants would be having soccer coverage like they do for the world cup and the euro championships. Anyone know?

Also If you like me are too broke to have digital cable or direct tv nbc is making every single event available online. You can see anything live if your willing (like me) to wake up in the middle of the night or you can watch the replays. I watch a lot of online sports (espn 360 etc) but the quality of video and sound on the nbc site is a whole other level. The quality is truly INCREDIBLE. So if you want to see ping pong or whatever its all available. It was amazing, I could hear the players and coaches as well as the woosh of the soccer net and the clang of the ball hitting the crossbar like i was right there. I was REALLY impressed. Best part, no announcers just the games as they are being played.

You can access the videos at nbc's website here:
http://www.nbcolympics.com/index.html

They also allow you to acces the television coverage as well.

and you can find all the required plug in's for all the different browsers/computer systems here:
http://www.nbcolympics.com/pluginsneeded.html

I just think it is very cool that all this stuff is available to everyone. Even if you don't have a computer you can go to your local library or an internet cafe and see your country playing.

The coverage actually starts at 7:30pm. The listing in the papers was wrong.

What about some coverage of our own Olympic athlete? His name is Curry and he's from the West Grove. I would think that more people in the Grove would be talking about him and getting behind him. Why the silence on this guy? (If you have already mentioned him, my apologizes.)
