I only heard crickets

All you big talkers didn't show up for the "bike-in" at 6:30 today. What happened?

You all talk big anonymously here in the comments section and the wind up is that there was only one biker present at 6:30 and one security guard at CocoWalk. At least it was an even match up.

But you guys threw a "bike-in" and no one showed up. Shame.

Sue McConnel sent an e-mail saying that Cocowalk had the bike racks coming at the end of August. Out of respect for her, I didn't come. I thought that the situation was over. Aren't you on her e-mail list?

Grape,
Somebody snuck into your blog and posted an article headlined "No need to have "bike in" --case solved."
Maybe that affected the turnout?

I said no need to have a bike in and everyone ignored me and said the thing is on - 6:30 pm.

That email Sue sent was sent to me too, from CocoWalk's PR department, you truly believe they had this planned for months? I think they planned the bike racks when all hell broke loose last week, not months ago.

Wait till you read about their gestapo tactics a bit later today, I have a good post about what happened at 6:30 last night.

Grape,
The point of my earlier post was that you are driving this issue (mucho kudos, by the way) and have a lot more sway over events than those of us out here in the Commenter cheap seats.
Keep up the very good work.

To All:

We brought up the bike issue to Cocowalk representatives several months ago at the Village of Center Grove Neighborhood Association (VOCG) meeting and they said they would work on it...and I believe they are. You can all place blame...develop conspiracy theories, etc. or you can come to a neighborhood meeting once in a while and DO Something!

And Len, because people did not go to the meetings, CocoWalk security guards have a right to terrorize people taking photos and also cut bike locks and confiscate bikes?

GET REAL!

Absolutely not...but what often comes out of these meetings is better communication among neighbors. Cocowalk is really trying to be an integral part of the area and develop a sense of "the Grove"...at least in my opinion. Now do some get it wrong (e.g. the security guard in this case) sure...But we try to work things out for everyone's benefit...And I think I am VERY REAL!

Hey, Len is the man. Things take time. Sure, Cocowalk probably fudged the story about the bike racks, and the little sign was obviously a total bullshit CYA (cover your ass) but thanks to Grape and community outrage (which the Grove has plenty of) these things will be addressed. Im still waiting for Len to throw his hat into the Commish race. The guy is active in the community and has good ideas. LEN-NY LEN-NY LEN-NY!

Yeah, I didn't show for the bike-in because of the post saying the situation had been rectified and they were installing bike racks soon. I took my bike with me and planned to go anyway, but something came up and that post made having a bike-in a lesser priority.
