Checking up on Micanopy

I went looking for the peacocks today on Micanopy, but there were none. Guess they were keeping out of the hot sun. Maybe we can install some peacock cams and keep an eye on them from our desktops. Peacock cam? That's NBC isn't it?

This is one of my favorite houses on Micanopy, every time I drive by, I expect to hear someone yell out, "Goodnight, John Boy!"

Wasn't Commissioner Sarnoff's grandfather, General David Sarnoff the founder of RCA/NBC? The Peacock is the TradeMarc for RCA/NBC.

Maybe you should camp out overnight and hear the sounds of the peacocks.

Sorry Anonymous, the peacocks are there forever. No way will Commissioner Sarnoff let any harm come to his Grandfather's TradeMarc!

I've heard the peacocks and they're a lot more pleasant to listen to than the obnoxious motorcycles and the other idiots honking their horns at 3am outside my Grove condo. Do we really have to destroy all that resembles nature around here in the name of "progress"? Give me a break!

I have lived in the north grove for 20 years. The peacocks are a nusiance and should be removed to the people's house that want to protect them. Having a peacock feather in or on your property is a bad luck omen.

I love hearing the peacocks! My mom and dad live in Palmetto Bay where they all have their own issues and opinions with the fowl. There they have screened in pools and the big birds wreak havoc and cause costly repairs.

I live in the North Grove, but haven't seen the birds on or near my street. I welcome them. I do hear them in the distance a few streets over and think it sounds wild and exotic - like hearing the calls of jungle birds. I think we need to learn to live with them. How bad could it really be?
