that's because they did not prune it correctly. Had they done so, this would not have happened.
Thankfully these trees recover very quickly. The Royal Poincianas are arguably the most spectacular trees in Miami ... although uptight people think they're messy.
You would think that if Commissioner Sarnoff was not on top of the pruning at least one of his 'toadies' would have seen to it. Oh that's right he is too busy being an asshole at City Commission Meetings!
to drenrique: does everything have to do with Sarnoff or be political?
By bringing him into every thread with such pointless viciousness, you dilute the very purpose of your vitriol, which is obviously to gain an anti-sarnoff following at any opportunity. The thing is, in doing so you are turning off those of us who are simply interested residents and blog fans.
What can a tree in the women's club that was hit my lighting, or a car or felled by the windstorm, have possibly have to do with Sarnoff? -margot channing
Did FPL have anything to do with the trimming/pruning of this tree? Considering the poor job they have been doing throughout the Grove (and all of Miami) I would not be surprised. I am predicting now that those large, mature trees that FPL has trimmed to be "storm secure" will meet fates similar to this one should a larger storm come...
Placing blame has no reason nor rational. It does not cure, provide solution, nor improve the result of the blame.
So you can bitch and moan and point fingers to no avail except the misconception of elevating your own self for a second in eternity, whilst you ridiculously place blame. (And as if you knew why a tree branch fell in the road! Blame Sarnoff, blame FPL, blame God/Mother Nature for the rain and lightning.)
Pointless... do you see?
If blame made all the wrongs right, and changed the behavior of those involved, or even those witnessing the ill effect of that which was blamed, then perhaps blame would somehow be worthwhile and not be the futile, self-elevating act it simplyis.
those trees are the first to fall in a hurricane.
