I wish things could be this simple again
Tony Scornavacca, Jr. sent me these two old Coconut Grove ads from 1968. The Waverly Inn is where the Grand Bay Hotel stands now. It was three stories and in the 1970s, two of the penthouse suites were converted into a recording studio which is where the Eagles recorded Hotel California and The Long Run.Notice the $.95 Complete Luncheon!
The Bayshore Inn is where Monty's stands now. Monty started out renting a small shack by the docks. He had one long table and served clams, oysters, conch fritters, and beer.

Yeah, but publishing a blog in 1968 was a pain in the butt.
That's downright reasonable, would be from $5 to $6 today, I think
Thank you Grapevine. I'm glad that I was able to contribute. - Tony
