Quit yer belly achin'

I have to laugh, this post about Señor Frogs has turned into a noise issue debate.

No matter what the noise ordinances are, let's be real: You move across the street from a restaurant and bar and you are going to hear noise. To complain all the time is idiotic.

I live next to Mercy Hospital, I expect to hear ambulances, do you think I call Mercy every time one goes by? And get this: The music and noise from Vizcaya flows over to us during the season constantly, I am hearing noisy wedding parties until 1 am on a regular basis. And Grove Isle is the worst -- the music and noise that flows over from them is really annoying.

But we live with it. Even in a residential area.

For people in the Cloisters and other neighborhoods near the Center Grove to complain about noise from across the street, down the block or even Peacock Park is stupid. Real stupid. That Cloisters land should have been a park anyway, the City sees nothing wrong with spending billions on a Mega Plan (without even a public vote) that most don't want, and yet they could not pony up for a small park in the Grove at the time it was available, which was the right thing to do.

Yeah, that became official as soon as "just the facts ma'am" whipped out his trusty law book and started slapping wrists. People who do stuff like that make me laugh because they think others actually care. If you dont like noise, go live out in the woods or in a residential neighborhood, not near the center.

The Cloisters was on the CARL list, so it was the state that let us down.

Get high impact windows. They do a fantastic job of killing noise.

When you purchase a home near a box store get ready for truck noise. We live on McFarlane Road and yes we have lots of noise, But we knew this when we purchased our Condo Hotel Unit. Our choice and we would never change it, love the energy. Otherwise go up to Weston and live in the burbs with all the other boring people. Peacock Park, Art show, Parades hey thats what the Grove is all about Team!

Cloisters should be turned in to a park, I say. And the 5am liquor bars should be back. Welcome to America Cloisteristas, buy jewel encrusted ear plugs.

Great post. Reminds me of this guy in Boston in the early 2000s who bought a unit on Beacon Hall, right over the Red Line tracks. He then sued the transit system because the trains made a rumbling noise.

Of course the train had been running there since, well, 1912. He lost the case.

we really have to start spreading the word. We need to start writing to our city commissioners, newspapers, mayor. We can't let a few people who complain about anything control the neighborhood. Bring back the 5am liquor!!!!!

Back to Anon's post: lots of people who live on McFarlane never expected the noise, loud music and lack of enforcement that affects their quality of life. When you are a hotel, you sell people a good night's sleep and many guests are not getting that at the hotels and the owners of some of those residences should not be subjected to loud speakers and noise coming from the Clubs at the end of the block.

Really? Have you ever been able to find a hotel room in New York that is quiet, except for the ones that cost $4,000 a night which are adorned by twelve LCD TVs and an Olympic size Jacuzzi. These people are bad neighbors who want to turn the Grove into a nursing home. Bring back the 5AM booze. To hell with Sarnoff weirdo.

So Typical, Here in New York some of the new money that bought expensive apartment's and Townhouses in the West Village Because of how pretty and unique the cobblestone streets were now want to pave over the cobblestones because they're too noisy and they think it's too damaging to their BMW's. Their trying to reverse the Historical status of the street's but so far have been unsuccesful. They move into Area's of the East Village because of the nightlife and restaurant's then they want the nightclub's and Restaurant's closed down.

Grape you are right on the money. The great share of idiocy by new people moving in because they can walk to the theater, their fav restaurants and bookstore/spa, but all other things like: the festivals; fireworks at july 4th; peacock park concerts; picknicks at barnacle; Village feeling entertainment (bars/clubs); etc. that was here long before and makes the Grove what it is have to move or change for their "quality" of live protected by law. What they forget is that the Grove has a special area in the city called "the business district of the Grove". One can look up the definition and the boundaries of this district, it has special rules for zoning and operating business, which never includes breaking the law, but condoning certain facts. The city gave out many permits to operate business in a small area, if you are going to live in the middle, you can not complain even with the law on your side. So take it or shake it, moving out of the district and live just on the outskirts it might be good exercise for some people.
