Hungry, lost tourists
So many days I see lost tourists looking for something. Yesterday two were looking for the Gap but most are looking for food, usually breakfast.
Early in the day, not many places are open. I see tourists get off the bus and start searching for breakfast. They walk as far as Jaguar, seeing that it is closed and they see the Sandbar is closed and so is Johnny Rockets and they don't know enough to head toward Commodore Plaza so they turn back.
I am always tempted to say something, but I keep my mouth shut since they don't approach me. I guess I always have a camera in my hand so they assume I am a lost tourist, too. Johnny Rockets padded my bill that time when they saw the camera. They thought I was a tourist, too. (Guess it's easy to go undercover as a tourist, just carry a camera around).
But info boards may help with this lost tourist situation. Also, maybe the black booths could come into play and they could have some sort of list on one side.
I took this photo in New York recently, it's near Herald Square and Macy's and is well used by tourists.

Excellent thought, Grape. I doubt our Commissioner would like it, though, because they would be redundant with the black booths (unattended).
looks like the booths have to move. honest to god who was the retard who forgot to see if they needed county approval for those things? I am glad the county is upset about the one they so kindly placed in the middle of the bike path. Its called a public right of way for a reason.

I think something like a board at the mall with categories for types of shops and restaurants as well as and "you are here" marker would be a hell of a lot more useful then the booths. We should tear those things up convert them to playhouses on the playgrounds or something.
Grape,
Next time you see lost tourists mosey on up and ask if they need help finding something. That's what I do, out of common courtesy if nothing else. If you've had the experience of being lost in a strange city and being helped by a stranger you will understand how big of a deal that small gesture can be to the person it touches. It doesn't take much time and makes people feel welcome in the Grove.

Michelle,
Apparently you don't understand the Grape's schtick. His gambit is to complain about the booth's, ask inane questions when the booths are actually occupied and not to bother to approach an obvious tourist who needs information. All in his selfless support of the Grove. What a guy.
Hey "Don't Ask Don't Tell",
If you hate the Grape so much, why are you reading AND commenting on his blog??
Anon 12:01,
Apparently your schtick is to leap to unfounded conclusions. I totally admire the Grape for his efforts, including his occasional hissy fits and sanctimonious posturing. Plus, I can post comments to provoke the ignorati. What's not to like?
