Looking for a good deed doer
Well, I don't know if vandals got to it or what, but the Plexiglas door is always flying open, it's bent out of shape and the lock is broken. I was told by a Business Improvement Committee member that they are trying to get it fixed, but for some reason it's a process. I don't know why, but I am asking now if anyone can volunteer and do it for them.
It just needs a lock, some new Plexiglas and maybe a frame. If anyone can help by donating their expertise and materials, please email us here at the Grapevine and we'll pass your info on to the correct person. It's a nice little thing and it's a shame that it always looks like crap right in the center of town. Also, we'll give you a nice little mention in the blog here.

Here's the problem. If some random private citizen attempted to fix the thing by showing up with hand tools and having at it, that act in and of itself might be viewed as vandalism or tampering with City property. Think about an analogous scene where someone takes apart a parking meter to remove a jammed coin. Under any circumstances, a motivated citizen should clear their efforts with the BIC office or somebody.
My plan is to put the person in touch with Dave Collins, who runs BIC. I was not expecting some person to approach the sign with a tool box unannounced. That's why I want them to contact me first.
Grapevine, this is a good thing you're doing.
I hope the thing gets fixed.
There are probably a few areas in the Grove that could use a thoughtful person to help out.
One would think there would be some sort of maintenance/repair arrangement with the original supplier?
