The county is not amused with the black booths
But a permit is the least of their concerns. According to David Smiley in The Herald, the county feels that:
• The kiosk in front of CocoWalk is in a dangerous location because a vehicle entering the awkward intersection of McFarlane Road, Main Highway and Grand Avenue could crash into the booth.
• The kiosk in front of the Grand Avenue post office blocks motorists' view of oncoming traffic and could endanger drivers during power outages.
• The kiosk on Main Highway is located in the middle of the Commodore Bike Trail.
I have to laugh. But I won't. We all hate these things, why don't they just say they made a mistake, take the loss and remove them?

Agree 100%.
The only thing that is more difficult than humans admitting they were wrong is governments changing courses.
I drive by all of these booths every day when picking up & dropping of my day care dogs in the Grove. I've never had any visibility problems with their locations - and I am driving a big, honkin' cargo van (the visibility is more horrendous than you might think). My problem is that they are ALWAYS empty and just not necessary. Quite frankly, when I am a tourist in an unknown locale, I find that I get the best info on where to go/what to do from random locals, not "designated" tourist info spots...
We dont remove them because it it was pushed by Sarnoff. And of course, he is never wrong. Is it me or is he slowly going insane?
I think the kiosks are a great idea; they look great, and they are functional but the people inside need to be more visible, maybe higher stools or chairs, but I love the fact that someone is in them ready to give information and help if needed. There is nothing wrong with their placement. If we are worried about that then every lightpost and mailbox would have to be moved.
They may be functional but there not $75000 functional.
If a private business did anything with out the proper permits the city fines you and shuts you down. Can we fine Marc Sarnoff?
