More on the post office site . . .
If that's the case, it would be nice to have that whole long block there made into something nice. But there is a problem in the Grove with those type of structures. Will it resemble CocoWalk and Mayfair? Will the rents be the same? Will the place sit mostly empty?
It would be nice if possibly it could look like some sort of funky Grove village and not a multi-use complex. Like maybe mixed use storefronts that look like a downtown area, not like a mall.
And what about the garage? All the other Grove garages sit empty. People like to park on the street. I know I do. But I suppose if some sort of structure can be managed and retail space could be utilized, what's the difference if a garage sits above the retail floor? It's empty air space anyway. And anything is an improvement over that post office site now.
I really don't see a problem with all this except for the fact that some people refuse to just leave the Grove alone. The elitist crowd is trying to overtake the funky Grove now and won't stop until we are Coral Gables or Bal Harbour. It keeps moving in that direction. But then again, I would say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it and honestly the post office site is totally broken and something -- anything -- needs to be done. It can't stay like it is.

So, in other words, the developer gets the Post Office to cut down all the trees that they wouldn't be able to do otherwise.
Nice.
