I wish more people could have seen "Moliere"

Bevin Bru (left) and GT Smith were part of the "Moliere in the Backyard" cast this past weekend at the Arts and Minds Center. That is GT in the poster below. He's the guy on left.

They are incredibly talented and should have performed to larger crowds. It seems that in the Grove, you literally have to hit people over the head to get them to attend many events. I don't think they did a complete job of marketing the play and hope that in the future they can draw more people in by doing things differently.

I happened to see these two actors walking down the street just a short time before the Sunday performance. Maybe it would have been a great idea if they had walked around in character earlier in the day, perhaps even at the entrance to the Goombay Festival on Saturday. I think this would have drawn a lot of interest. They could possibly even have sold tickets right on the spot.

Also, many people are not familiar with the Abanico Theater's location and I think their presence on the street would have helped a lot. I really would love to see packed houses for these talented performers in the future.

Abanico is fantastic! Theater is alive and well in Coconut Grove.

I hAD No CLUE! I would have LOVED to do something like this!!! get them to leave a pamphlet at the Bookstore or something! Maybe like you say, have a "theather night" and go around in character...
