Will Arsht Center take over Grove Playhouse?

I mentioned, in another post, that it would be nice if someone with money could save the Playhouse, someone like Adrienne Arsht, who stepped in to bail out the Carnival Center and now there is actually talk about the Arsht Center taking over management of the Playhouse. Nothing is confirmed, and it may never happen, but at least people are starting to think in new ways about saving the institution.

I think the sooner they remove Shelley Spivak and her board, the sooner the turn around can begin.

South Florida Theater Scene's take on the situation is here.

Sadly, the only way to get rid of the incompetent board of the Coconut Grove Playhouse is for them to step down. But they are too stupid to recognize that they are the problem.

I've made my thoughts about the Arsht Center known over on South Florida Theatre Scene.

Until the Arsht Center learns to manage itself, they are in no shape to oversee the development of another space. Remember, the current Playhouse isn't in any shape to put shows in; it has to be razed and rebuilt from the ground up.
