A.C. Icees celebrates 30 years!
A.C. was the first business to receive a mobile concession permit by the City of Miami. Tomorrow from 11 am to 1 pm, the city is celebrating at A.C.'s location at Kennedy Park (2600 South Bayshore Drive).
His white truck and colorful umbrella have made his freshly made A.C. Icees stand an icon at Kennedy Park that has remained constant in Coconut Grove throughout these years.
Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Allan Cohen (A.C.) spent his vacations and free time in South Florida until 1978 when he moved to Coconut Grove and made it his home. His famous "icees" are often referred to as "constant lemonade" and good from the first slushy slurp to the last melted down drop. He has recently received a proclamation from the City as well as several awards, including Best Things Frozen in 1985; he was published in a book "The Joy of Pigging Out."
