Michelle Spence-Jones in more hot water
It appears now that Commissioner Michelle-Spence Jones' office was "pushing for a politically connected friend to be hired by the condo developer [Related Group], a former top city official testified," according to today's Herald. This was weeks before her controversial "yes" vote for the 300 Grove Bay (Mercy Hospital condo project). Story here.
The Herald story goes on to say, "While some details differ between the Sarnoff memo and Conway deposition, the overall thrust -- that Spence-Jones was pushing for payments to her close political allies -- is consistent."
So I feel a bit vindicated on my views posted here in December.

Regardless of the outcome, Jorge Perez is worth so much money that his continued success does not depend on a project like 300 Grove Bay.... Imagine how he could turn his public perception around if he did a good thing like building a handful of houses on that land.... Yes, it's a ridiculous thought but what difference would it make to him? None whatsoever.
Imagine if he just crawled back under his rock and left us all alone? Pure bliss.
Spence-Jones is accused of selling her vote for cash. And the fact, that her decison hurts the Grove and a long time well established neighborhood bothers her not a bit. Sad.
And we are sorry for Spence-Jones's district which suffers from her many stupid decisions and her lack of attention. Why is Spence-Jones traveling outside Miami so often? And who is paying? I hope not the taxpayers.
I do not know what the fuss is all about. Michelle Spence-Jones has created a sea change in Overtown. It is cleaner. It is safer and businesses are moving in to serve the community. If it is true that she has to rub elbows to make things happen than as least she is making a real change to the residents in her districts. The time will come when choir boys have to sing and hang wringers have to fret but then I do not see the MSJ critics serving the people of Miami.
